Interior and figure

B/W sketch lobby w. people

This workshop is designed to introduce you to drawing without any reference, loosen up your line work and develop a better understanding of how matter interacts with the figure. You will learn how to assemble figures from imagination and intuition based on your visual experiences. We will spend a lot of time on the spontaneous figure assembly and creating an interior to match the figure.

I talk and comment a lot during the session and encourage you to have questions and participate actively. We work strictly with imagination and memories and learn to assemble figures spontaneously yet with a realistic implementation. I show how to draw the objects, environment and figure simultaneously making them match each other stylistically. We will work with foreshortening, perspective and different visual angles.

Independent of your background, the workshop will help you to develop additional mark-making features to your already established figurative work.

Materials: willow (vine) charcoal, A2/A3 format sketching paper(120-160 g/m2, preferrably toned brow, grey or ivory) hard eraser, blue soft pastel.
